How To Get Rid Of Cockroaches In Your Kitchen

RH Business Marketing Solutions

For many people, just seeing a roach is enough to make them feel queasy and gross. It will also leave you asking yourself if there is one where the rest of them are. While there is not really a good way to test if you are infested with these gross pests, there are ways you can make sure that they leave your kitchen and not come back. Here are some of the best ways you can get rid of cockroaches in your kitchen.

Silica Aerogel and Sugar

What a lot of people don't realise is that sometimes you don't have to use a super toxic poison in your house just to get rid of them. All you need is silica aerogel and some sugar. Mix those two together in a 3 to 1 ratio and sprinkle it around the places you think might be infested. Repeat the process until you are sure that there is not a single cockroach alive.

Peppermint Oil

Possibly one of the simplest ways you can get rid of these gross things is by mixing peppermint oil and water. Mix them and spray it on infested areas, and they will die immediately.

Hot Water and Vinegar

Another simple one, as most have vinegar in their houses, is mixing hot water and white vinegar. Mix equal parts water and vinegar and wipe it on any areas that you don't want cockroaches to be. You can also pour it down the drain, so it kills any that are living in there.

Hot Water, Lemon and Baking Soda

Yet another super simple thing that you can do is mix lemon with two tablespoons of baking soda in a litre of boiling hot water. You will want to pour this mixture into your drains as well as any place you might think there are cockroaches breeding.

Cucumbers

Something that comes as a spouse to a lot of people is the fact that cucumbers are natural cockroach repellents. That is because they find its aroma of it disgusting. Keep a couple of lines around, so they don't want to come near them.

Neem Extracts

Possibly one of the most popular natural ways you can stop cockroaches from moving into your kitchen is with neem leaves or oil. It will not only keep away cockroaches, but it will also get rid of bugs. All you need to do is spray some oil mixed in with hot water and no roach will come into your kitchen again.

Cinnamon

This delicious spice will keep away the nasty cockroaches. That is mainly because they have a very strong essence that bugs pests. All you need to do is sprinkle some on the counters or anywhere you might think they are hiding. It will keep them from breeding and infesting your kitchen space.

Cockroach Baits And Traps

If you don't want to experiment with natural remedies, or you are dealing with German cockroaches, you might need to have baits and traps all throughout the kitchen. They will attract them and kill them. It will also break the breeding cycles. Place them in your cabinets, behind the dishwashers, microwave, and fridges as well as any cracks and corners. These baits and traps mean that there are no chemicals being released, but you must keep them away from kids and pets as they are highly toxic.

A Cockroach Bomb

A quite popular option for killing all cockroaches in your home is by detonating a cockroach bomb in your kitchen. They are great if you can figure out where their nest is. But you will have to take some preventative measures while doing it. Always read the instructions and follow them to the dot. The first thing that you need to do is turn off the electricity in your home and be prepared to be out for a couple of hours. But the thing with them is that people who are sensitive to chemicals and fragrances or have children and pets shouldn't use them as it leaves a residue for up to three months.

Cockroach Spray

If you don't think you have a nest but you see a roach from time to time, a spray would be great. You can use it fast and stop individual ones from occupying your home. There are some sprays that will create protective barriers and it will keep insects from your home for months.

Borax and Sugar

Another simple and natural way you can get rid of roaches from your kitchen is by mixing borax and sugar. You will want to create a mixture that is three parts borax and one part sugar. It will dehydrate roaches' exoskeleton which will cause them to die. This is possibly the most effective and fast activating natural remedy. Even though it is natural it should still be kept away from kids and pets. It is also great for keeping away pests from your home.

As you can see, there are so many different ways you can battle these nasty creatures that no one wants to see in their kitchen or other rooms in their houses. Keep in mind that if you are living in a building that has a lot of units, if you are dealing with an infestation, if not all apartments are professionally treated, it is not likely that you will stop the infestation on your own.
